Linkin Park album advert analysis
Linkin Park have used very similar images and themes from their album cover, on their album advert. This is a general convention you would see in music album adverts. Either they keep the same themes or have the same images. In some cases they change everything as they are established artists and don't need to promote their album visually. The image on the right is the exact picture on the album cover of Linkin Park's album a thousand suns. They use effects on each member of the artist, similarly to a collage, making the picture more abstract and eye catching.
The image on the left is the banner of the advert. This is the title of the Linkin parks album advert. This is placed on top of the picture and is exactly the same font and logo as the album. also has the same theme as the album

Institutions
Marketing:
Collision course is a cd/dvd set released on November 30, 2004 by rapper Jay-Z and Linkin Park. The record labels that distributed this album were Roc-A-Fella, Machiene Shop,Warner Bros and Def Jam records. It sold 1,934,000 copies in the United States and sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. Both artists have changed their conventional album genres and merged as one. Collision course has been identified as an EP as all tracks are mashups combining songs by both artists. Therefore this can be marketed to both audiences of the artists rather than their individual target audiences.

Genre (Linkin Park)

You can also tell they are a rock band due to piercings and the colour of there clothes. Black T-shirts and combat pants or skinny jeans with tattoos and ear plugs are conventions Linkin Park use which identify them as a rock band rather than a pop band
Linkin park also have different genre categories which they can be associated because they are really diverse. They made an album with Jay-z which adjusted there genre from American rock and nu-metal to Rap metal. This shows they are diverse and have explored other genres and they are not like the usual bands but diverse which is unique. Even when they have explored other genres they still stuck to there rock theme and added hints of other genres. Thus meaning they tweaked the actual rock genre and made sub genres like rap metal.

Record Label Research
For our record label research I conducted depth studies into the major labels. I found that the biggest record labels during 2008-2011 were EMI Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group. However, now there are only three major as EMI has absorbed into Universal Music Group. We felt that Warner Music Group were the most suitable record label for our chosen song as Warner have many similar artists to ours in the same genre such as Avenged Sevenfold, Foals, Fort Minor, Green Day, Linkin Park, Metallica, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The White Stripes. These artists all relate to ours as they share the same genre.
Our chosen record label is down to the fact that we are releasing our first album and feel that Warner Music Group would be an ideal label to be signed to as they are one of the biggest record labels in the world. Rob Cavallo is the current owner of the company and the record label has a close relationship with its former parent Warner Bros. Pictures.
Warner Music Group was initially established in 1958 as the recorded music division of Warner Bros. Pictures. Warner Music Group is the third biggest record label in the world and therefore they have a variety of artists signed to them ranging from many genres. They have a big contingent of artists from each main genre and we feel that because of this, it would be ideal for us to use Warner Music Group as our designated label.
We decided not to go for any other label as Warner was the third best in the market, and it would be unrealistic being signed by the biggest or second biggest label in the industry as an upcoming artist. Also, the band that sings our song for real is Linkin Park who are also signed to this label. This is why we chose Warner Music Group and not Sony Music Entertainment or EMI Group.

DigiPack of Linkin Park
The band Linkin Park have chose to release this album as a digipack, they have used all the usual conventions of a album such as a picture, artist name and album name on the front cover. Also on the spine they have the usual artist name, record label and album. On the back they have the track listing and a image related to the front cover also they have credits of the album.
The Digipack i will be analysing is the rock band Linkin Park. This digipack represents the genre rock because as we can see the whole band can be seen standing casually which is seen alot throughout rock music when they are promoting digipacks, album adverts and even posters.
